Very authentic food. I ordered the 3 taco plate with Al Pastor tacos, rice & beans...very good. I ordered a Jamaica to drink, which was not overly sweet...also good. My companion ordered a huge burrito Al Pastor, a 3 carne asada street tacos and a canned Diet Coke. How he ate that ginormous burrito...forget about the tacos, I'll never know. My taco plate was adequate, but by no means too much to finish. Our bill was $37, which I thought was a bit pricey for lunch, but the food was very good. My only complaints (other than the price) was their red salsa (cooked type salsa) was so incredibly spicy it was not edible. The green salsa wasn't quite as hot, but I don't like green salsa & I felt it was too spicy to safely eat. I was born & raised in Southern California, so I know good Mexican food & can usually tolerate even the spiciest chile...the red stuff was ridiculously hot, even I couldn't eat it. Normally, I fill up with chips & salsa before my meal arrives, but I had to forego that because of the awful salsa. We had to stop twice on our way home to Los Angeles as my friend did eat the salsa, which did a number on his digestive system, lol.
The other issues were the unisex restroom was in the back & you had to walk thru the kitchen to get there. The kitchen could have been a bit cleaner. We were there about 3 PM & there was 1 other party who came in after us, so it wasn't like they were busy. Once you did get to the restroom, it was spotlessly clean & beautifully decorated. Very out of sync with the dining area that is just basic & serviceable. We opted to set at a long table running down the center of the room. The chairs were cheap metal folding chairs...not comfortable at all. There were booths, but I am very tall & have a prosthetic leg that makes getting in & out of a booth very challenging. The service was friendly & quick, although the woman who served us did not appear to be very proficient in English. Good thing I speak enough Spanish to get by, so we were able to make ourselves understood.
Bottom line...would I go back? Yes, although I would definitely bring my own salsa, lol. Would I recommend this to others? Yes with the caveat: look out for the red sauce.
